Technology can be a pretty amazing thing. Such is the case with Doppler radar. Doppler is used to monitor cloud cover and rain potential. It is so sensitive that it can tell how heavy or light the rain will be, if there is lightening or hail in the storm, or if there is a rotation indicating a tornado. Radar can detect wildfire smoke, bird migrations, and even bats. Amazing! But, did you know that it can also detect bugs. That’s right, bugs!

Houston in top 10 Cities for Most Rodents

There are many things that today’s cities strive to earn a top 10 position in, but top 10 cities for most rodents and cockroaches is surely not one of them. Here in Houston we have earned the dubious distinction of being in the top 10 list for the highest rates of rats and cockroaches when comparing the 25 largest cities in the United States. According to the most recent American Housing Survey, Houston ranked 4th highest in rat infestation, 9th highest in cockroaches, and 10th overall in evidence of unspecified rodents. The rodent population is surely a concern when you consider all that these little pests imply.
